EY GDS - Assurance FAAS - FSO - Insurance Senior/AM

The opportunity
The position is specifically for IFRS 17, which is one of the biggest accounting standards changes. We're looking for an incumbent who can provide advisory services including accounting and regulatory support for accounting change and special matters; accounting processes and controls support; GAAP conversion and implementation; IPO and other public offering assistance, and transaction accounting and financial reporting assistance. Experience working with clients in either financial services or more specifically insurance industries is preferred.
Your key responsibilities
- Manage quality of service delivery
- Execute FAAS solutions using the Global service delivery framework:
- Financial Accounting and Reporting Excellence
- Accounting Processes
- Regulation, Governance, and Financing Remediation and readiness
- Ensure quality in delivering client service by directing daily progress of fieldwork, informing Supervisors of engagement status
- Follow through on client requests in a timely manner and manage expectations regarding the timing of deliverables and reports
- Identify engagement and client service issues
- Research and benchmark client data to industry data, and explain critical success factors to the engagement team
- Apply independent and objective professional judgment in applying accounting standards to meet engagement expectations
- Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting concepts and stay informed of professional standards and firm policies
- Support the delivery of accounting and regulatory change projects by assessing engagement risks, driving conclusions, and supporting engagement mobilisation through scoping, planning, and defining outcomes
- Coordinate activities across small teams on projects to deliver tasks, including providing guidance and feedback to junior team members
- Support financial management of client engagements and undertake practice development activities including contributing to thought leadership pieces, running industry events, delivering training, or managing team communications
- Aid proposals and bid teams in delivering high-quality proposals
- Develop strong internal and external networks for long-term relationships, managing EY accounts and bringing all EY to clients
- Drive innovation by creating an environment that encourages innovation and being a leader in this area by implementing new and improved ways of working, delivery models, or technological advancements
- Establish and manage effective working relationships with peer-level clients as part of project delivery roles
- Contribute to business development activities by identifying and researching opportunities on new or existing clients
- Contribute to the growth of the practice by providing input to EY Points of View, development of solutions, engagement tools, and enablers
- Contribute to the development of your own and the team's technical skills by establishing a culture of highest-performing teams, inclusive behaviors, and emotional intelligence
- Manage the sharing of knowledge, experience (positive and negative), and lessons learned
Skills and attributes for success
- Good understanding of IFRS/US/UK GAAP and international auditing standards
- Good understanding of Indian accounting and auditing standards
- Comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity in a project environment

- Willingness to travel on short notice, as necessary
- Working experience in at least three of the following services/solutions: GAAP conversions, drafting accounting policies, consolidation and reporting, investment accounting, financial statement close process support, and reinsurance accounting
Professional experience
- Experience in a consulting role in banking or insurance or a transformation role in the industry, focusing on the finance function
- Advanced skills and experience in treasury organizational structure and transformation, financial risk management, cash flow forecasting, debt and investment management, governance, controls and regulation, M&A support, and hedge accounting
- Experience leading delivery of finance change programs in banking or insurance
- Experience designing and implementing finance operating models and finance transformation
- Experience with accounting and regulatory changes such as IFRS9, IFRS17
- Experience in financial control, financial modeling, budgeting, business planning, forecasting, and analysis
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA (US), or ACCA (UK)
- 2-5 years (post qualification) in Assurance including at least 1 year of financial accounting and advisory experience
