Plant Cost Accounting Manager
DESCRIPTION
The Costing Manager provides Financial/Accounting support for the Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) business, specifically the Sandy, UT Plant. This includes providing financial support and leadership to Finance and Operations leaders, playing a key role in establishing and achieving financial objectives and formulating and executing Operations strategies. This role is responsible for maintaining accounting and reporting procedures, ensuring accurate product costs and manufacturing performance reporting, and safeguarding product inventories and manufacturing assets. Additionally, the role involves interaction with Global Marketing, Research and Development, and other General & Administrative functions, driving compliance to GAAP/SOX, and recommending continuous improvements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee planning, reporting, and analysis of budget, forecast, and spending variances.
- Develop standard costs.
- Assist with the development of quarterly forecast and annual budget packages.
- Maintain fixed assets and physical inventory.
- Prepare capital expenditure authorizations and capital spending analysis.
- Ensure P&L and reserves are calculated appropriately.
- Accurately report manufacturing performance.
- Lead all financially related reviews.
- Partner with the Controller and Plant ESC to optimize finance-related operational decisions, introduce process discipline, and safeguard company assets.
- Drive continuous financial improvement through Gross Profit analysis, Inventory analysis, New Product and Discontinuance Analysis, and Spending analysis.
- Ensure financial reports and records comply with US GAAP and BD financial policies.
- Maintain financial controls and meet the requirements of the Sarbanes/Oxley Act.
- Assist internal and external auditors with periodic reviews and implement recommendations from audit findings.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Required knowledge in Cost Accounting, General Accounting, and Finance.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- ERP experience required; SAP experience preferred.
- Audit experience preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 5+ years of relevant professional Accounting and/or Finance experience, including product costing, manufacturing variances, and inventory control experience.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent).
- CPA, MBA, or CMA is preferred.
