This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Life Sciences function. This position will report to Controller, Finance.The GL Accountant is responsible for: Check and post General Ledger journal entries to ensure the proper and accurate booking in compliance with group and local accounting policies, e.g., expense accruals, prepayment amortization, etc.Calculate and maintain transfer price, IC mark up and standard cost in ERP system in line with company policies. Tracking GP% on a weekly basis to ensure entity level bookings are done properly.Perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly close process, ensuring that trial balance is well maintained and closed out, e.g., follow up and trace breakdown of key P&L and B/S accounts, work with the team to solve the problems if any, prepare FAS109 package for deferred tax calculation, etc.Prepare monthly account reconciliation and ensure proper follow-up, including analyze expense accrual and amortization balances, follow up long aging items, etc.Prepare Monthly and quarterly flux analysis and other reporting under SOX.Prepare financial statements and reports, as per local requirements. Keep record of the GAAP differences and provide other statistical reports under the local requirement.Accounting records maintenance and filing of Tax returns of Direct and Indirect on timely manner.Assist to implement and improve the internal control procedure.Support internal and external audit and assist in implementing action items as a result of audit findings. Supporting to other members AP/AR Managers/ Controllers and Treasury etc. when and need. Any other Ad-hoc tasks assigned by line Manager.Education/Experience:Any Post graduate degree/Degree in Finance or Accounting.5 to 6 or more years' experience in accounting/finance, with good knowledge in GL accounting and reporting.Key Interactions: Local business managers in Sales/Marketing, Supply chain, etc.GBS teamsGlobal stakeholders - US finance teams.Auditors - external and internal.Internal Finance team members.Travel: As and when per business requirement.Technical Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):Post graduate degree/Degree, majored in Finance or Accounting. SAP system experience to work upon GL activities.Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Good verbal and written communication in English Knowledge of Chinese language - for smooth interaction with Chinese colleagues, on need basis.Detailed and result oriented Dedicated & positive thinking Ability to quickly become independent and work under minimal supervision.Expected BehaviorsAttention to detail,Well-organized,Result oriented,Quick learner, & priority setting.In more than 100 countries, the people of Ashland LLC.
