Department Profile

The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate, Currency Products, Commodities, Credit Products, and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, derivatives, lending and repo products, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. From the largest global institutions to innovative new hedge funds, investors come to Morgan Stanley for sales, trading, and market-making services in almost every type of financial instrument including stocks, bonds, derivatives, foreign exchange, and commodities.

Background on the Team

As part of the Fixed Income Division, the Trading Desk Assistant is responsible for working with and supporting the G10 Interest Rate US Trading desk in Mumbai. The team covers Asia, EMEA, and North America hours supporting Fixed Income and Equity markets and is functionally split based on the area of work.

Primary Responsibilities

- Support the New York Interest Rate US Trading Desk in Mumbai (US working hours).

- Market data analysis to identify attractive trades through data analytics of market and client data.

- Perform trade capture & risk reviews including risk moves, lifecycle management, and trade amendments.

- Provide support to end-of-day P&L reviews.

Qualifications

- Educational background in Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering.

- Strong understanding of math/engineering, economics, and finance.

- Understanding of interest rate products and markets (Government Bonds, Repo, and derivatives).

- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in fixed income.

- Proficiency in MS Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.

- Must be self-motivated, confident, and possess good communication skills.

- Attention to detail.

Preferred Credentials

- Strong knowledge and expertise in Excel, with the ability to analyze and summarize large amounts of data.

- Experience with Morgan Stanley booking systems such as Trend, Genesis, STS, EOS (if internal only).

- Interest in macroeconomics and trading.

- Background in statistics and/or data analytics.
