Position: Accountant/Admin
We are looking for an Accountant/Admin to join our startup and support our operations. The right candidate for this role has 3 to 5 years of experience with a preference for having a combination of both public accounting and startup or industry experience.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for entire accounting function, process, system
- Handle all administrative duties including documentation, filing, automation, data entry
- Diligently follow-up/co-ordinate with customers, employees, third parties, government agencies for task completion
- Lead and support directors for all financial tasks, filings with governments, tasks with company secretary
- Collating the bills for daily expenses and entry into the accounting system
- Manage accounts payable and employee expense report processing
- Assist in month-end close process
- Work closely with the team to manage spending activities
- Maintain files with all relevant corporate documents
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
- Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms
- Process check requests
- Audit and reconcile corporate credit card bills where applicable
- Record bank activity, including all cash and credit transactions
- Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks and distribute checks accordingly
- Respond to all vendor inquiries
- Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
- Accounts receivables (collections follow-up) and assist credit checks process
- Perform monthly sales closing (including preparation of journal entries and reconciliation schedules) and ensure timely and accurate submission and reporting
- Update weekly cash report
- Review processes for continuous improvement and support process changes
- Support system enhancements and new system implementation as needed
- Assist with internal and statutory audit process
- General Ledger accounts reconciliation
- Assist with Singapore Quarterly GST return filing
- Assist with ad hoc projects as needed
- Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years of accounting or related experience (preferably with a mix of public accounting and startup/industry experience)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, vlookups etc.)
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; highly motivated with a high degree of commitment to meeting deadlines, targets and objectives
- Works well independently and with teams
- EdTech industry experience is a major plus
- Extremely detail-oriented and highly organized
