Job Description
Role Summary:
The Finance Professional will report to the Management and be accountable for the effective delivery of the finance strategy. This will be achieved by ensuring the function's efficient operation and working to improve its value to the business. The oversight of the finance function will encompass responsibility and operational accountability for financial control, operations, planning and analysis, achieved through driving the function forward and the effective management and development of its team, as well as working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement the company's financial strategy.
- Work with management and leadership to refine and ensure the strategy's success.
- Establish and maintain an effective financial accounting system.
- Ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and on time.
- Apply financial reporting standards and best practices to all accounting activities.
- Collaborate with management to identify and manage organizational risks.
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable for smooth operations.
- Ensure timely month-end reporting and meet compliance deadlines.
- Continuously improve and document robust financial controls, processes, and procedures.
- Lead efforts to comply with funders' and regulators' requirements.
- Coordinate annual external and internal audits.
- Oversee efficient monthly payroll processing.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury functions.
- Maintain the highest standards of financial integrity.
- Ensure management accounts are accurate and timely.
- Foster collaboration between finance and business unit leaders to develop finance business partners.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Develop a framework to analyze business performance and ensure value for money.
- Review and evaluate new projects and business cases for financial returns and alignment with SMART goals.
- Assist business unit leaders in managing third-party service contracts.
- Help negotiate program and project contracts as needed.
- Ensure quality assurance for outsourced services in collaboration with business units.
Requirements:
Qualification and Experience Required:
- Qualified finance professional (MBA- Finance, CA, CFA etc.) with a proven background in managing a finance function in a start-up or fast-moving environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of and the make-up of a secure financial control environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of impactful business partnering.
- Proven administrative, leadership, and management effectiveness in the areas of strategic planning, analysis, and organizational development.
- Demonstrable competency in running a finance function, including payroll, taxes, VAT, and transactional processing.
- Attributable success in delivering a year-end through to audit closure.
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise work, handle pressure and take day-to-day decisions on the running of the organization.
- Demonstrable understanding and experience of managing risk.
