Job Title: Revenue, AR, BU Accounting SME

The Revenue, AR, BU Accounting SME will be responsible for all aspects of revenue recognition, US GAAP, and day-to-day management of a team of experienced accounting professionals that provide support to the Global Revenue Accounting group. This individual will provide subject matter expertise in the area of Revenue Accounting.

Responsibilities & Tasks Include:

- Performing managerial reasonableness reviews and discussing reporting & analytics deliverables prepared by the team to ensure results are accurate and effectively communicated.

- Providing support to key stakeholders with analytical results and findings.

- Serving as the first point of escalation for issues within the local reporting line.

- Participating in or conducting a wide range of accounting and financial analyses on critical and complex issues, including variance analysis and accounting transactions.

- Acting as a subject matter expert on particular accounting transactions.

- Coordinating with the onshore team and Accounting Policy to determine appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions.

- Coaching the team and collaborating with onshore leadership to establish team goals and gather feedback for performance appraisals.

- Managing function-specific projects as needed.

- Ensuring completion of deliverables within the committed timeframe.

- Collaborating with Revenue Operations (Billing) teams on initiatives and new contracts.

Oversight of Revenue team includes the following activities:

Daily:

- Monitoring General Ledger activity for accuracy based on US GAAP rules.

- Preparation of manual journal entries for accrual and adjustment revenue activities.

- Cash application of receivables.

- Following up with the Business on aged billed and unbilled items.

Monthly:

- Maintaining accuracy of the revenue accrual process.

- Coordinating month-end close activities including preparation and oversight of manual journal entries.

- Overseeing account reconciliations and certifications.

- Performing SOX controls.

Quarterly:

- Preparing Regulatory and Internal reporting.

- Performing SOX control testing.

- Conducting Fee Reserve Analysis.

Ad-Hoc:

- Preparing and updating process narratives/procedures and flow charts.

- Responding to internal and external requests, including variance analysis and inquiries.

- Participating in Ad Hoc projects and new transactions.

- Performing user access reviews and certifications.

Process Re-Engineering, Standardization, and Automation:

- Leading process re-engineering, standardization, and automation efforts.

- Executing right-placement strategy.

- Supporting the implementation of GAO process re-engineering and automation efforts.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

- Master’s Degree in Accounting, Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), PMP, or MBA-Finance.

- 12-14 years of progressive experience in R2R areas with major financial institutions.

- Extensive practical experience and knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.

- Understanding of international regulatory landscape and experience with statutory accounting/reporting groups across several major international geographies.

- Experience in building and maintaining a strong control environment including SOX, RCSA controls, and policies.

- Demonstrated leadership in improving and building out process groups for multiple geographies and business areas.

- Extensive experience managing teams in day-to-day accounting operations, month-end and quarter-end activities.

- Experience leading re-engineering of R2R processes and driving centralization of end-to-end activities.

Skills Required:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas).

- Knowledge of Hyperion Essbase, Oracle Financials, Spotfire, Tableau, Cognos data analytics, and visualization tools.

- Conceptual understanding of company-wide financial architecture (GL, sub-GL technology, specialized tools).

- Senior-level communication and presentation skills.

- Independent decision-making capabilities and demonstrated thought leadership.

- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to work under high-pressure deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Highly organized with excellent problem-solving skills.
