Functional Job Title: Finance CoE Specialist, Assistant Manager
Reports to: Finance COE Manager, AVP
Department/ Division: Finance CoE, CFO group
Basic Purpose of Job:
The Finance CoE Specialist provides subject matter knowledge in the assigned area of Financial Planning & Analysis, developing a thorough understanding of State Street’s business practices to effectively perform independent, complex reporting or analytics to support the ad-hoc needs of the businesses. Reporting to the Finance CoE Manager, the Specialist will perform a multitude of activities associated with reporting and analytics for the assigned Global procurement finance team.
Responsibilities & Tasks Include:
- Frequent interaction with the Procurement team to provide savings analysis.
- Develop and/or update various financial models to generate analysis using advanced Excel skills.
- Manage month/quarter/year-end closing and forecasting.
- Oversee the annual operational planning process (budget).
- Conduct variance analysis and prepare management presentations describing insights.
- Self-review of reporting & analytics deliverables for first-pass accuracy and present analytical results and findings as needed.
- Participate in or conduct a wide range of accounting and financial analyses on critical and complex issues such as variance analysis, forecasts, budgeting, cost control, and accounting transactions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on specific financial management matters.
- Manage or participate in function-specific projects as needed.
- Collect information and analytical requirements from management to determine analysis approaches.
- Prepare reports and presentation packages, and interpret results for management.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s and 8 – 10 years of relevant experience, or Master’s and a minimum of 5 – 8 years, ideally covering multiple of the following:
- Financial Planning & Analysis in a global setting
- Direct support to business or product line management/executives
- Financial services setting
- Experience with preparation of budgets for multinational companies
- Project and transition experience
- Variance analysis and reporting of insights
Skills/ Knowledge:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess strong communication skills with the ability to participate in or lead conference calls and present financial results to financial and non-financial audiences at various levels of seniority.
- Pride of ownership with the ability to drive results within the Business.
- Solid business knowledge related to the financial services industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio), with advanced levels of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, Excel workbook maintenance best practices).
- Knowledge of Hyperion Essbase and SmartView.
- Knowledge of Cognos data analytics and visualization (or similar) is a plus.
- Strong analytical skill set.
- Financial product and institution knowledge.
- This is a visible role requiring excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills, and the ability to present complex financial matters to management.
