Job Purpose
The Upstream Revenue Accounting Senior Specialist role is responsible for managing the Revenue Accounting activities, which encompass the high-level validation of revenue, and royalty covering gas/oil/condensate-related recordings. The role involves activities related to the revenue setup of new fields/wells and review for compliance in line with applicable contracts. The incumbent conducts audits of Revenue records to ensure proper documentation is maintained to evidence those controls that are operating effectively as required for SoX Compliance. Acting as Liaison/Interface between various groups (Volume, Commercial, Pricing, 3rd Parties, Transportation, Regulatory Affairs & FiTB) for new/ongoing issues, ensuring the integrity of account data through the Status of Accounts and Reporting Compliance.
Principal Accountabilities & Key Challenges
The Senior Specialist must be familiar with aspects of revenue accounting and have an understanding of the various issues impacting the industry. This position requires the ability to make recommendations for process improvements as well as control enhancements and to troubleshoot most problems or issues independently. Responsibilities include:
- Processing monthly invoices and accounting to Gas, SIE, SIP, etc.
- Reviewing monthly invoices related to Oil.
- Conducting monthly flux analysis and providing necessary business commentary.
- Performing high-level validation of revenue, royalty, and other related recordings.
- Monitoring internal control processes for revenue and royalty recording and reporting.
- Maintaining internal control frameworks for the team.
- Collaborating with JV Auditors, EY, and SIA to assess compliance activity.
- Addressing special requests from various internal and external organizations.
- Ensuring high satisfaction levels in work production, information management, and reporting.
- Participating in upcoming systems implementation & cut-over activities.
Leadership
The incumbent will be accountable for co-owning business outcomes and is expected to have clear roles and responsibilities for self and the team. The role involves:
- Independently analyzing and troubleshooting basic process and system issues.
- Developing strong working relationships with other organizations.
- Communicating with Shell's business partner representatives professionally.
- Establishing ongoing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure clarity of expectations.
Key Experience/Competencies Required
- Bachelor's/College Degree holder (Finance/Accounting).
- 6-8 years of experience in related accounting processes or upstream background.
- Experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is highly recommended.
- Previous work experience in a SAP environment is an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and maintain strong customer focus.

Additional General Comments
The role requires knowledge of many different facets of oil & gas accounting and production with regulatory obligations and the ability to apply this knowledge in changing business applications. The ideal candidate will manage multiple priorities and possess advanced technical skills in Microsoft Excel, BW, MS Access, and SAP.
