Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to ensure monthly estimation, billing, and actualization of revenue, purchases, and related costs are accurately accounted for in the Energy Component/SAP-FICO through a ‘first time right’ approach. Ensure financial information is appropriately communicated within the organization (regulatory, commercial, and legal as applicable). This role offers the incumbent an opportunity to build a strong understanding of Canada's Upstream revenue and how this impacts the end-to-end Commercial to Finance process. The role also involves supporting projects outside the Canada Revenue Accounting team and aspiring to have digitalization skills.
Position description – Accountabilities
- Ensure the Monthly Estimation of sales, purchases, and inventory are recorded in the books accurately.
- Calculate the sales and purchase price as per the contract and ensure all prices match with Joint venture partner’s price.
- Prepare month-end reports for stakeholders and Joint venture partners.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the Blackline process and the ability to review and action open balances in Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable with detailed commentary and appropriate action to clear them.
- Actualize the sales and purchases in the books accurately.
- Intercompany reconciliation.
- Monitor the effectiveness of financial controls in line with the Group’s methodology, diagnose ineffective financial controls, assess their potential impact, and develop and implement remediation.
- Handle audit queries - Shell Internal Audit, JV Audit, External auditors by interacting directly with auditors & partners.
- Assist with CI projects/support to projects within the Revenue Accounting Team, as necessary.

- Support for Upstream Revenue accounting team, System implementation changes, and Digitalization support to upskill the staff and enhance their competency.

- Resolve disputes and act as an SME, the first escalation level.
- Conduct analyses to solve repetitive or patterned information and data queries/problems.
- Work within a variety of well-defined procedures and practices.
- Supervised on progress and results; inform management about analysis outcomes.
- Work autonomously within this scope, with regular steering required on project scope and prioritization.
- May coach less experienced colleagues.
- Support stakeholders in understanding analyses/outcomes and using them on topics related to own areas of expertise.

Experience and Qualifications required
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Upstream experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, the ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment.
- Ability to focus on the big picture and yet dive into details.
- Excellent problem-resolution skills, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others through effective communications, and the ability to understand end-to-end business processes.
