Job Title: Market Risk Analyst
Department: Finance Operations - Market Risk
Location: SBO Chennai/Bengaluru
**About the Role:**
The Market Risk department, a key unit within Finance Operations, operates from Chennai and Manila centers. This role supports the Market Risk Manager/Senior Manager for Products, ensuring the successful operation of SOX Controls, daily P&L/Risk reporting, and maintaining operational excellence in reporting processes. The individual will also assist in developing the capability of other Risk Analysts, thus sustaining the Market Risk function.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist with the daily production of Physical/Derivative desk reporting and help traders reconcile their P&L with market movements.
- Analyze major product mark-to-market curve price movements to ensure accuracy in trading systems.
- Gain a deep understanding of M2M curves & methodologies, ensuring correct loading in trading systems.
- Produce exposure analysis and investors’ profitability reporting to support trade decision-making.
- Monitor exposure, risk metrics, and NBP exposure limits daily within the trading control framework and MOA.
- Operate quarterly and annual SOX controls and disclosures, ensuring accuracy in reporting.
- Prepare weekly/monthly trade performance slide packs for Regional/Global Heads of the Commercial Business.
- Champion Risk Committee action items, ensuring their implementation.
- Investigate and resolve trading system curve errors in collaboration with business users and technical support.
- Maintain daily control and Trader KPI metrics up-to-date.
- Provide ad hoc analysis by querying the Trading Risk Databases.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, external regulations, the Control Framework, SOX, Financial Reporting requirements, and Trading policies.
**Key Challenges:**
- Maintain quality relationships with key business stakeholders, including Global Heads/GMs.
- Convince stakeholders by explaining the “story behind the numbers” through visuals and an understanding of trading strategies and risk payoffs.
- Continuously improve tools and processes within Market Risk Operations.
- Flexibly adapt to changing work scopes and increased challenges.
- Work shifts aligned with business requirements, which may include early or late-day shifts.
- Meet Market Risk's steep learning curve, emerging as an SME within the team.
- Independently handle and deliver on team projects.
**Experience and Qualifications:**
- Highly numerate, logical, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work well in teams.
- Understanding of LNG Markets business and trading management information systems.
- Background in risk management.
- Motivated to resolve conflicting data issues considering overall business impacts.
- Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Science, Finance, or Economics from a leading academic institution.
- Proficiency in tools such as Alteryx, Python, Spotfire, Power BI.
- MBA in Finance from a Tier I/II Institution.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with risk analysis, value-at-risk, financial derivatives, or physical energy markets.
- Strong computing skills (Excel, programming, VBA) and analytical abilities.
- Experience in Six-Sigma and/or other problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
- Finance and accounting skills with an ability to understand financial results and reports.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and analyze complex data.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.
